The Embassy in Mongolia Holds the International Women's Day Reception and Handed Over Donations to the Mongolian Red Cross Society

On the evening of March 6, Ambassador Shen Minjuan held the International Women's Day reception at the embassy. Nearly 200 people attended the reception, including Vice Chairman of the Great Hural of Mongolia Odentuya, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Bulgantuya, and Secretary General of the Red Cross Society Bolormaa, women representatives from the political, business and academical sectors, envoys from other countries to Mongolia, and female diplomats from the Chinese embassy.

Ambassador Shen showed the guests the documentary on Chinese women's fight against poverty, and introduced the ongoing "Two Sessions" in China. She said that in the 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, women have enjoyed an increasingly higher social status, and the proportion of female representatives in this session of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference has hit a record high. 45.8% of people in science and technology field and more than 50% of university students are women. The Chinese people say“women hold up half the sky.”Chinese women will continue to make important contributions to Chinese modernization.

Ambassador Shen spoke highly of the development of Mongolian women's cause. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia. China is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Mongolian women's community to promote the development of the two countries and the friendly relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Shen said that China feels the same with Mongolia's severe dzud. The Chinese government and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region provided emergency relief to Mongolia. Since the disaster hit, many Chinese companies in Mongolia have donated fodder, fuel, and cash to herders and participated in local rescue operations. It is touching that Daqing Tamchag Company brought a pregnant women trapped by heavy snow to the hospital for delivery.

Ambassador Shen handed over the donations provided by the Chinese Embassy and Consulate General in Mongolia, Chinese enterprises in Mongolia, and the cash assistance provided by the Beijing Red Cross Society to the Secretary General of the Mongolian Red Cross Society Bolormaa. We hope the assistance will support the Mongolian Red Cross Society in rescue operations and bring warmth and strength to herders in disaster areas, especially women herders.

Odentuya, Vice Chairman of the Great Hural of Mongolia, spoke highly of Mongolia-China relations and the role of women in both countries, and appreciated China's timely assistance to the victims. She said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and China, the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership, we look forward to more meaningful events to deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Red Cross Secretary General Bolormaa thanked China for providing the help in times of crisis, saying that China's support will be sent to the herders in time to help the them overcome the disaster.

At the reception, Chinese students performed a wonderful singing and dancing program. Teachers from the Confucius Institute showed tea art, calligraphy, paper-cutting and other traditional culture, attracting guests to try out themselves in the cheerful atmosphere. The guests praised the development of Chinese women's cause and donations of the Chinese Embassy and Consulate General and enterprises.
