On March 24, the Mongolian government held a launching ceremony of the China-aided infrastructure project at the road border crossing of Zamiin Uud. Ambassador Shen Minjuan delivered remarks on behalf of the Chinese side.

On behalf of the Mongolian government, Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene appreciated the Chinese side for building the international standard port facilities despite the pandemic. The efficiency of passenger and cargo customs clearance increased fivefold, which is a solid contribution to the port revival policy of Mongolia. The two sides will exercise a six-month policy of 24-hour customs clearance from April 1 at the Zamiin Uud road border port for freight. The policy will help the crossing play a bigger role as the major window for trade of Mongolia.

Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene welcomes the ratification of the Zamiin Uud-Erenhot economic cooperation zone by the Chinese government. As the project is an important consensus between the two sides during President Xi Jinping’s visit in 2014, he looks forward to its progress.

Ambassador Shen said that it’s pleasing that the China-aided infrastructure project at the road border crossing of Zamiin Uud is officially launched for greater efficiency of passenger and cargo customs clearance. Port revival is an important part of Mongolia’s economic revitalization. In the principle of “opening all ports possible and connecting all rails and roads possible”, China stands ready to work with Mongolia to improve infrastructure at border crossings by introducing new modes of transportation including AGV. Besides infrastructure upgrades, people-to-people exchange will be enhanced with the initiation of cross-border tourism.

Ambassador Shen said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the China-Mongolia diplomatic ties, the 30th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, and the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. At the new historic starting point, we are willing to work with Mongolia to build a community with a shared future between the two countries, promote Belt and Road cooperation, and better align the development strategies to enhance the fundamentals of the growth of the two countries and make contributions of China and Mongolia for build a Big Asian Family.
