On March 27, the signing ceremony of the exchange of notes on the feasibility study of the China-Mongolia Desertification Prevention and Control Cooperation Center and the Demonstration Center was held at the Mongolian Ministry of Finance. Ambassador Shen Minjuan and Minister of Finance Javkhlan signed the notes and made remarks.

Minister Javkhlan said that China and Mongolia are good neighbors, partners, and friends. The two countries share the friendly tradition of mutual assistance. The Mongolian side commends and appreciates it that China has been providing grants and concessional loans for socioeconomic development of Mongolia. Cooperation on desertification prevention and control is an important consensus reached by the two heads of state and will facilitate Mongolia’s “One Billion Trees” initiative. The Mongolian side is ready to push forward the project with the Chinese side to help the two countries and the region to better cope with climate change and go for green development and achieve fruitful outcomes in the 75th anniversary of the bilateral relations.

Ambassador Shen said that climate change is the shared challenge faced by the international community. The Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization matches with the “One Billion Trees” initiative proposed by President Khurelsukh, both of which are examples of governance for the people and are in line with the long-term and fundamental interests of the two peoples. China is ready to work with the Mongolian side to strive for early substantial progress of the China-Mongolia Desertification Prevention and Control Cooperation Center and the Demonstration Center for the well-being of the two peoples and the community with a shared future between the two countries.
