The Embassy of China in Mongolia recently held an open day event for the new year. Nearly 200 students, teachers, and volunteer instructors from the Mongolian-Chinese Friendship School for Overseas Chinese in Mongolia attended.
In the Embassy's illuminated hall, participants set up event stands together with embassy diplomats, experiencing traditional Chinese cultural activities such as shadow puppetry, movable type printing, tea ceremonies, Chinese knot-making, and traditional Mongolian calligraphy. They also watched together the promotional video for the 9th Asian Winter Games 2025, One Heart, One Dream.
Ambassador Shen Minjuan gave an engaging "First Lesson by the Ambassador" to the students and teachers, highlighting the recent the tremendous impact of China's "new three" of cultural exports, the grand achievements of Chinese modernization, and the promising prospects for China-Mongolia relations. She also emphasized the successful inclusion of the Chinese New Year in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list, illustrating the historical legacy of Chinese culture and the global appeal of China.
Ambassador Shen noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of China-Mongolia diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Mongolian-Chinese Friendship School. She acknowledged the school's role in witnessing four-fifths of China-Mongolia diplomatic history and nurturing numerous envoys of friendship between the two countries. She expressed gratitude for the teachers' decades of dedication and encouraged students to learn more about China and Chinese traditional culture, continuing to write new chapters of China-Mongolia friendship.
The open day event was filled with a joyful and festive atmosphere. Young diplomats from the Embassy presented a visual explanation of the history of China-Mongolia friendship, embassy chefs demonstrated noodle-pulling skills, and students and teachers from the school shared their stories with China, performing captivating traditional and modern Chinese and Mongolian songs and dances. Participants expressed their excitement at being invited to the Embassy, describing the open day as the best new year gift.
This open day was part of the Embassy's series of events to celebrate the new year and marked the first time the Embassy hosted a dedicated open day event for a single school.
