On the morning of March 28, CPC Secretary of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Ma Xingrui met with Mongolia’s Minister of Road and Transport Development Byambatsogt and his delegation in Urumqi. The two sides worked to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state and promote mutually beneficial cooperation on areas including transportation between China’s Xinjiang and Mongolia.

On behalf of the CPC Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the People’s Government of the Region, Ma Xingrui received Byambatsogt’s delegation to Xinjiang for exchanges and cooperation. He said that China and Mongolia are neighbors that share mountains and rivers. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Khurelsukh, the cooperation and exchanges between the two countries continue to go deeper, setting an example of exchanges between countries. As China’s Xinjiang and Mongolia share geographical proximity and people-to-people connection, the two sides have every reason to deepen cooperation in all fields for greater development and well-being for the people. In recent years, Xinjiang has well implemented the policies of the CPC on Xinjiang. With the strategic position decided by President Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee, we have integrated development with security and opening up with stability to foster strong momentum for high-quality growth of the economy and society. There is positive cooperation impetus between China’s Xinjiang and regions of Mongolia. The strong intention to grow cooperation means a bright future for the two sides. Xinjiang has demonstrated huge potential in pushing forward opening up and development, which will offer more opportunities for deeper collaboration. We look forward to closer cooperation and a regular, flexible exchange mechanism at provincial and lower levels. We will focus on border port construction and efficiency and work to resolve problems that hinder wider opening up of the border crossings for the smooth exchanges of vehicles, cargo, and people. Xinjiang will encourage trading between border residents to consolidate the strong momentum of economic exchanges for larger trading scale. We will work closer on road transportation connectivity and expansion of aviation routes to facilitate interactions and explore the Central Asian market. We will leverage the respective advantages to expand cooperation in agriculture and animal husbandry. The two sides will also promote exchanges in culture and tourism. These areas of practical cooperation that yield fruitful outcomes will help the two sides grow stronger economically and deepen bilateral ties.

Byambatsogt said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the Mongolia-China relations. Mongolia has always taken the development of friendship and cooperation with China as the priority of its foreign policy. The two heads of state has reached a series of important consensuses to deepen Mongolia-China cooperation and promote trade. As a bridge that connects Central Asia and Europe with China, Xinjiang boasts prominent strengths in agriculture, animal husbandry, transportation, and mining and enjoys strong economic complementarities and a long history of cooperation with Mongolia. In recent years, under the Belt and Road Initiative, we have forged ahead with the cooperation between the western region of Mongolia with China’s Xinjiang and there remains huge space for more win-win outcomes. I hope this visit will help strengthen cooperation in areas including transportation, natural resource exploration, industrial product exports, agriculture, and animal husbandry and improve the capacity of infrastructures including border ports, roads, and civil aviation and cooperation in culture and tourism. This will boost trade in goods and people-to-people exchanges between Mongolia and China’s Xinjiang and the autonomous region will be a gateway for collaboration between Mongolia and Central Asian countries for greater socioeconomic growth of both sides.
